Job Description:

MADD club is a music, art, dance and drama club for disabled young people aged 5-18 years.  Siblings within the age range are also included.

Drama group meets at the Princes Hall on a Tuesday evening, 5.30 – 6.30 p.m.

Dance group meets at the Westend Centre on a Thursday evening, 5.30 – 7.00 p.m.

Music/Singing Group meet Mondays at West End Centre 5.30-6.30p.m

Each group has a qualified and experienced tutor leading the activity, supported by a small team of volunteers.

The groups are small ranging from 5 – 15 members.  Membership of The Madd Club is open to all young people with disabilities. We work with parents/carers to ensure it is the right environment for each young person, often spending time building confidence and self-esteem.

Parents/carers complete a membership form when the young people join MADD club. This gives details of disabilities and support needs. In this way PAG can appropriately match volunteers with young people.

Young people remain the responsibility of parents/carers at all times. The parents/carers stay on site in a separate part of the building. Their help is sort only when needed.

We hold two evetns during the year:

Childrens Festival, February Half-term. A day for the whole family to join in music, art and a festival parade.

Show What You Know, October Half-term. An opportunity for all the MADD groups to get together and perform to an audience in a proper theatre.

A PAG committee member visits the club on a regular basis.

A PAG committee member is designated Volunteer co-ordinator and will liaise with volunteers on a regular basis.

Role:

Befriend young people with disabilities aged 5-18. Disabilities can mean learning difficulties, Physical disabilities or both.

As part of a small team, enable young people with disabilities to participate in music, art, dance and drama.

As part of a small team, create an informal peer group for young people with disabilities.

Any support or training needs are managed by the Volunteer co-ordinator. This includes an induction period when new volunteers are paired with experienced existing volunteers.

All volunteers are reference and CRB checked.
