EVENT REPORT

December 2024 – The Pantomime

Pre-performance photo

The PAG Team, donned in their t-shirts and Santa hats, eagerly awaited the arrival of the Mayor, Cllr Mara Makanura and the Mayoress Sal Makanura. As soon as she arrived, members of the cast came out and we all congregated in the bar for photos. The atmosphere was electric. The children loved meeting Harry and his Mum Sugar Kane, along with all the other stars of this years panto.

Equal access to a community tradition

With almost 400 people in the audience, there was a great deal of excitement. Children were up and down, round and around throughout the performance, free to be themselves. No worries about disturbing other people or disapproving looks.

Thanks to Rotary volunteers and the PAG family, there were no queues and everyone got a light up toy, drink and ice cream. We are grateful that the Princes Hall are willing to sell us this performance each year and to our private funders who make it all possible. Most of all we are grateful that our Treasurer Karen Flackett, is willing to manage the ticket sales and allocations each year – no small task! What now? “We’ll have to do it again then won’t we!” We look forward to Panto Christmas 2025!

Our Charity

Our group is helping others by raising awareness of the need to local authority and other local providers. A huge amount of voluntary hours are spent organising, publicising and running these events. None of our projects could happen without the support of local businesses and charity groups.

Local Support

The nature of events for special needs families involves a greater sensitivity towards individual needs, more people power to ensure enough support and a good deal of fundraising. There is a tremendous amount of time given by volunteers who are all members of the local community. If you can help, please let us know and we will be happy to come along to talk to you.

MADD Club

We hold regular events and clubs open to all special needs children and siblings. We are currently running a very successful MADD (Music, Dance and Musical Theatre) club as well as our annual performance of the special needs pantomime at the Princes Hall.

We contract experienced and qualified tutors who are supported by dedicated volunteers.

We also hold regular family events. See past events page for information.
